I have had the absolute pleasure of knowing Lily and her sister, Mia, since they arrived in this world and watched them grow into the wonderful young women they have become so this commission has been a particularly special paint for me.

Growing up by beach they would swim there almost every day, even during the winter months, so a beach setting was an important, if obvious, setting.

In stark contrast to a previous commission, the smooth and almost unblemished skin of youth can be more challenging to paint than the creviced character that comes with time.
