Doug has always been a dog person having grown up with golden retrievers so when he had his own family it seemed only natural to find one. The Chocolate Labrador, Yogi became part of the family.
In 2011 Doug was diagnosed with Cancer and had a fight on his hands.
This portrait was created to document the incredible bond between man and dog. During Dougs cancer treatment and recovery his loyal companion did not waiver; a head or back always at the ready for a moment of mutual soothing.
The good news is Doug made a full recovery and their relationship continues today stronger than ever.
A painted Portrait is an extraordinary way to immortalise a person and their story. I aim to capture not just a flattering image but to project a palpable sense of their emotion.
